Catching Up
Actually, I wanted to do something like "my week in pictures", but then I realized...I don't really take pictures that much.
Starting with "Karneval" (similar to Halloween in the States, but we party for almost a week and beg people to throw candy at us at parades instead of scaring them), I dressed up as "Mia Wallace" aka Uma Therman from Pulp Fiction most days, and one time as an Indian.
Last Thursday, I went to a "The Kooks" concert - if you don't already love them, check them out!
A week before that, I was at a film shooting as an extra. That was a fun experience though it was a little cold. It's also a good way to make some money without, you know, actual hard work.
For about two months, I'm working on my Geography term paper a lot, and it just seems like I'm not getting anywhere... Every German student probably knows what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I'm sorry I don't post any outfits lately, but I try to buy as less clothes as possible right now, at least "new" ones (secondhand is fine) because of ecological reasons. Okay, let's be honest, I wanna save money too (vacation, concerts, a new bike, a closet, etc.).
See ya later!

Random Drugstore Haul
Today I went to "Rossmann", a German drugstore chain to get some things I needed. Like always, I picked up some other stuff that I also really "needed".
The things I did need: conditioner, floss, a new shaver, and gum (whether or not you consider gum as necessary)
The "other stuff": lots of baby food (but only the fruity ones, love them!), cough drops, a make up storage container, a couple of hair clips (I want to put parts of my hair up when I iron them like all cool youtubers do), and a Maybelline top coat.
I don't know if this post is even a little bit interesting, but...it's up now.
xx Nina
this was only 3.50€ guys, go get it - so useful |

My Piercings
Today I wanted to show you my new piercings - a septum and a smiley. I went to a piercing studio during christmas vacation to finally have my septum done. My smiley was more or less a spontaneous action...here's the background story: About 3 years ago, my cousin pierced my frenulum without my parents' permission. From this day, I wanted my smiley to be seen in school and to be hidden at home, so I changed the piercing every day. One time I forgot to switch to the labret, and my mom made me take it out. Anyway, after I got my septum I was psyched to get another piercing and just in case, I ordered a sterilized needle with my next Crazy Factory purchase. Two weeks ago, at around 11 pm, I decided to pierce my frenulum myself. So I did - sorry mom! I don't plan on keeping it for long though. I really like my smiley, but it is not good for your teeth and gums...But I'll enjoy the time until that point.
Yeah, that's that for now. It was important to me that you can't see the hole of the piercing afterwards, so these piercings are perfect if you feel the same as me. I also have a bunch of piercings at my ears, but those don't really count as "piercings" for me. What piercings do you have? I'd love to read about yours in the comments!

Daily Appreciation
This was supposed to be a Sunday post, but I forgot to upload it...so here it is:
Thursday night I walked home and I started to look around and to consciously appreciate everything I saw. It was pouring, but it wasn't a storm. Everything was quiet and peaceful. It was dark, but I wasn't afraid, there was nothing threatening about that night. Last month my geography teacher showed us a video in which a man taught us his secret of happiness. It consists of three steps: stop, look, go.
So I looked - and listened. I heard the rain hitting the street, it dropped down the street lights. There was a distant sound of a plane and now and then a car driving by. I saw lights on the ground, reflected by the puddles which were all over the street and the sidewalk. Shadows of cars drove along the walls of the houses. There was a shop sign with the paint worn out on the edges. The shop was closed, everything was dark inside. But there was a warm light coming from several windows. I was thinking what the people inside were doing - watching TV, calling their parents, playing with their kids, working? I passed an open gate. Everything seemed familiar, it seemed save. The rain sounded like a rhythm, like a drum roll. I went by a bus station with one person waiting for the bus. I started thinking again: where was this person going? Going out, home, visiting friends, family? I saw a few last christmas lights before I entered the street where I live. Water dripping down a gutter. The light from the street lights was warm, not dazzlingly white, guiding me home. I was almost there when I grabbed my keys out of my bag. They felt cold, but as I turned them and entered, I arrived.
As soon as I heard this "Hi, how was your day?", my little journey was over and I returned to "normal". I think the man from the video was right. Sometimes you have to stop, take a break. Look, and appreciate everything you have and you can be thankful for. And go, take your positive mindset with you.
Since I don't have a diary, I thought I share these thoughts and experiences of mine with you.

A Day Off School
cropped tee urban outfitters / denim BDG via urban outfitters |
I had the Wednesday off - and not because I skipped school or pretended that I'd been sick (although that had happend a couple of times, I gotta admit). Anyway, here's what I did on that day:
Chilling around the house
that means lying in bed, watching TV, reading a book or a magazine, surfing the internet and putting all the stuff in my online cart I cannot afford and NOT buying it, watching YouTube videos, eating...
Eating
my bad habit is to enjoy the proximity of food when I'm home a little too much, so I'm constantly walking back and forth to the kitchen and back into my room...but that's just how it goes when you're home alone, right?
And I had this yumminess for breakfast:
cherry soy yogurt with organic chia raspberry granola and a pear |
Going outside
for me, it's important to go outside of my apartment, so that I don't forget that there is a life outside of my PJs and my bed. I gotta remind myself of the world out there, and we had really nice weather today (which cannot be taken for granted in October in Germany).
Riding my bike with my grandma
I love riding my bike, and I cannot imagine a single day when I don't use it. For me, it's the best way to get from one place to another. You get some fitness, fresh air, you do something for the environment, and you're mobile. We just had some errands to run and went to the city where I bought...
Shopping
a white basic shirt for work and a pair of slightly acid washed jeans. Shopping when most of the people are working is kind of relaxing - at least to me. However, I sometimes wonder how many people don't have to work at like 1 pm.

My Birthday Haul: Sexy Seventeen
On September 19, I turned 17. I didn't really plan to celebrate, because 17 is "nothing special" in comparison to sweet sixteen and elegant eighteen. Anyway, I invited some girlfriends over to have a sleepover with cocktails, gossip, and movies.
One thing I noticed when I looked at my little gift collection: the older you get, the more envelopes you get. Well, I don't wanna complain :D
Dad:
He always gifts me events, so I was soooo happy when I unpacked the concert tickets of "Wallace Vanborn", an old school - alternative rock band from Belgium, we both like. Then, there's a ticket for the annual "Cologne Theater Night", which I heard a lot about but never attended. Aaaand like you can see, I got the Beatles - Sgt Pepper LP!
Grandma:
1. an envelope
2. dark chocolate (which I love!)
3. her self knitted socks (which I love even more, I can't imagine a winter without those socks, I have like seven pairs of them now)
Mom:
"What do you want for your birthday?"
"Umm, I don't know I'd need new nail scissors."
- So I got a manicure set. And a candle that glows in different colors and smells heavenly. And an envelope (with old paper in it...again) :D
My sisters:
Guess what's from my 19-year-old and what's from my 10-year-old sister? Right, my older sister got me the John Green book "Looking for Alaska" that I desired for so long. This beautiful picture was a project of my younger sister and our 4-year-old neighbor...cute.
My friends:
Apparently, one gift hasn't arrived on time, but this is how it goes at times when we order almost everything online (same reason why we didn't have a cocktail shaker to mix our cocktails that day).
1. a "Breaking Bad" mug + key chain (love this show, will always love it, just...true love)
2. a voucher for my own personal horoscope (a friend of my friend's is a professional astrologist)
3. a ring and a pair of ear studs (oh, and flowers)
All in all, it was a really good birthday, certainly not just because of the gifts. I had a good time and got to see (almost) everyone of my family again. Now, my days til I become an adult are numbered!
When's your birthday and what gift were you the most happy about?

Derrrrs Me!
Don't be scared - just another person who wants to share all kinds of stuff with you, if you like it or not.
I'm gonna show what I wear, what I eat, what I do, and so on...
To a fun and totally intimate internet relationship, cheers!
